The West Australian Good Food Guide Regional Chef Of The Year award is not a “second prize” for country folk. Many of our regional chefs are on par with the best chefs from our most celebrated city restaurants, particularly in Western Australia, where there has been a strong tradition of first class commercial cookery associated with our premier wine region, Margaret River.
Our top regional chef this year is a young man with a passion for flavour. He is inventive, but underscoring his playfulness and creativity is a strong, crisply defined backbone of technique and discipline. The end result? Dishes of booming flavour, subtlety and the utmost pleasure to eat.
