Yiamas 2024 Winner

When Yiamas entered the fold earlier this year, it was a boon for Perth. A modern spin on a traditional Greek taverna set within whitewashed walls in Subiaco, it launched with high expectations. All credit to the team, then, that it has in no way disappointed. Whether you’re inside on rattan or bentwood chairs or out in the sunny courtyard, count on Justin Scarvaci’s menu delivering on all fronts. Ultra-smooth hummus is served under crunched-up fried chickpeas and braised lamb. Fremantle octopus is sauced with Corfu-style tomato sauce. Then there’s the sourcing of whole animals, the skill on the charcoal grill. All the while Caitlin Johnston keeps things polished pouring Greek wines and Hellenic spirits. More please.
