The West Australian Good Food Guide Industry Leadership Award

Launched in 2021 and run by Perth bartenders Shirley Yeung and Pippa Canavan, Mix Haus is founded on a mission to promote, upskill and support women in hospitality through workshops, training opportunities and local and national industry events. 2023 has seen the launch of a resource library for women, as well as collaborations, takeovers and the continuation of wine education scholarships, creating more pathways for women into a field traditionally dominated by men. It’s close to home for Yeung, who recalls being new in the industry, walking into masterclasses and being the only woman in a room full of 50 people. Mix Haus takes out our award for flipping the script, and helping to foster another generation of talent – and they’re just getting started.
