Syrah’s rise in WA comes from great sites, so it’s no surprise Paul Nelson mines one of Frankland River’s most significant syrah vineyards for this wine. It’s loose-knit but Italianate with a grippy smudge of tannins, wild berry and bramble scents, and a liberal seasoning of dried herbs. Sappy, with a long, amaro-like finish. Compelling drinking.
