The Taste of Change by Maathemis Inc is back, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting food and drink events of the year.
More than just a long lunch, it’s a celebration of flavour and community, raising funds for Leading Youth Forward—a Perth-based volunteer organisation giving at-risk teens the kind of mentorship and support that can change the course of their lives.
But make no mistake: this is also a feast worth clearing the diary for. The theme for 2025 is Clash of the Continents—a five-course journey where Asia meets Europe, brought to life by some of WA’s most talented names in food and drink.
Destiny White is back on home soil after stints at London’s Barbecoa and Amsterdam’s Soho House, alongside local time at Long Chim and Petition. Known for her fearless flavour play and her experimental infused wine label Coupla Viinos, Destiny will bring the kind of bold creativity that keeps diners guessing. She’s joined by Nicola Lunardi, the man behind Perth’s most-loved Italian haunts—Il Lido, Canteen Pizza and Nolita—whose effortless way with Mediterranean classics makes him a natural contender in this continental showdown.

From North Perth’s Acqua e Sale, Damien Perissinotto returns with the kind of refined European training and soulful cooking that has made his restaurant a local favourite. In the opposite corner, Mal Chow—head chef and owner of Yallingup’s cult destination Chow’s Table—will champion the flavours of his culture and his mother’s recipes, a personal style that has earned him one of the most loyal followings in the South West.

And then there’s Brendan Pratt. Once at the helm of the kitchen at Vasse Felix and now Executive Chef for Parker Group (Busselton Pavilion, Fleur, Willi’s Wine Bar, The Royal), Pratt has a reputation for precision and polish, the kind of chef who can effortlessly bridge old-world finesse with modern flavour. Together, this line-up promises fireworks.

The drinks program is no afterthought either. WA Good Food Guide’s 2022 Bartender of the Year, Elise Godwin, is back for a third year, this time channelling her role as Head of Beverages and Distillation at Parker Group. With Fine & Dandy Spirits in hand, she’ll be mixing bespoke cocktails designed to heighten every course—a drinks experience you won’t find anywhere else.
