From luxe seaside soirées to hands-on farm feasts, immersive wine adventures, and everything in between, Taste Great Southern 2025 (1–4 May) is shaping up to be nothing short of extraordinary.

Here’s what we’ve got our eyes and appetites on at Taste Great Southern 2025.

Tides of Taste

2 and 3 May, 5 – 9pm, Maitraya Luxury Private Retreat, Nanarup

Over two exclusive evenings, the breathtaking Maitraya estate opens its gates for Tides of Taste—a rare night of food, wine, and ocean views. Paul Iskov of Fervor, Evan Hayter of de’sendent (WAGFG’s New Restaurant of the Year 2025), Amy Hamilton of Liberte (WAGFG’s Regional Chef of the Year 2024), and a stellar lineup of local and guest chefs will craft an ever-changing menu of canapés showcasing the region’s finest produce. Wine flows from top Great Southern makers, alongside fresh Albany Rock Oysters from The Leeuwin Coast Oyster Bar. It’s no wonder this spot has hosted the likes of Lady Gaga—this one’s not to be missed.

Wander with the Wild: Sunrise Breakfast Hike

Friday 2nd May, 6:15 – 9:45am, starting at Albany Visitor Centre, Albany

A rugged hike through the breathtaking Torndirrup National Park, ending with a well-earned breakfast featuring pastries from Bred Co, Yard 86 dairy, Naked Bean coffee, and fresh Handesyde strawberries. Led by local guides, this Sunrise Breakfast Hike through the iconic Bald Head Trail is one for the early risers—and those who like their morning coffee with a side of ocean views.

Denmark Wine Hop

Saturday 3rd May, 11am – 4:30pm, various wineries, Denmark

Denmark’s most renowned wineries open their doors for Denmark Wine Hop—a hop-on, hop-off experience designed for those who like to explore at their own pace. With a lineup including Singlefile, Rockcliffe, The Lakehouse, and Boston Brewing Co/Willoughby Park Wines, the day is set for exceptional wine, food, and live music at every stop. Tickets include a tasting at each venue, a food voucher, and six hours of seamless transport on a continuous loop. Maximum journey time between any two wineries? Just 10 minutes. And if you’re basing yourself in Albany, there’s return bus transport available.

Bites & Beats

Saturday 3rd May, 4:30 – 8:30pm, The Denmark Hotel, Denmark

Small-batch wines, produce-driven bites, and a killer DJ set—Bites & Beats is bringing the best of the Great Southern’s indie wine scene to the newly revamped Denmark Hotel bistro. Expect pours from Brave New Wine, La Violetta, Lowboi, Lonely Shore, and more, plus dishes from the expert resident chefs. A tasting adventure with a side of beats.

Raid the Cellar – Knockout Wine Tournament

Saturday 3rd May, 12 – 5pm, Gilbert Wines, Kendenup

More than four decades of Gilbert Wines’ best vintages go head-to-head in a knockout tasting tournament. Sixteen premium wines, one ultimate winner—decided by you. Paired with locally sourced canapés and set against the backdrop of one of the Great Southern’s most celebrated wineries, Raid the Cellar is one for the wine lovers who take their tastings seriously. Bonus: tickets include return transport from Albany and Mount Barker, so you can sip stress-free.

Meat Its Makers: Tiller x Dirty Clean Foods

Sunday 4th May, 12:00 – 15:00, KM Farm Manypeaks, Kalgan

A long lunch with a difference—this on-farm feast is a celebration of regenerative agriculture, sustainability, and serious flavour. Ken Rochester’s ethically raised beef meets the hands of chef George Cooper (Tiller Farm) in a five-course tasting menu designed to showcase low-mile, high-impact dining. Expect an afternoon of incredible food, Forest Hill and Lowboi wines, and a rare look inside a truly forward-thinking farm.

Taste Market

Sunday 4th May, 11am – 3pm, Albany Town Square

A vibrant, family-friendly showcase of Great Southern’s finest, the Taste Market is where local producers, winemakers, and chefs come together in a feast for the senses. Expect standout dishes crafted on the day by the likes of Blaze Young (WAGFG Chef of the Year 2025) and Brian Cole (WAGFG Young Chef of the Year 2024), plus insights from industry pros like sommelier Cyndal Petty.
