Six Senses Uluwatu

Crowning the cliffs of Pecatu, Six Senses Uluwatu, Bali is a sanctuary where Balinese spirituality meets modern wellness with a playful twist.

Overlooking the Indian Ocean near the sacred Uluwatu Temple, this resort offers 103 sky suites and pool villas that blend seamlessly into the island’s dramatic landscape. Designed with sustainability at its core, the resort’s passive architecture bathes spaces in natural light, while its wellness programmes and culinary offerings celebrate Bali’s vibrant culture and flavours. From turtle-watching at the cliff’s edge to sipping nutrient-rich broths, Six Senses delivers an immersive escape that balances indulgence with mindfulness, all underscored by a sense of fun – think stairwell signs cheering “YESS! One fried egg (18 calories burned, keep going!)”

What’s There

Six Senses Uluwatu reimagines hospitality with a spirited nod to Bali’s heritage and a commitment to sustainability. The resort’s facilities are a playground for wellness and indulgence: a multi-tiered infinity pool cascades toward the horizon, a state-of-the-art gym and yoga pavilion beckon active travellers, and the Six Senses Spa offers what reads like an encyclopaedic list of treatments using ethically produced products, Guests can test biomarkers for personalised health insights, while the gift shop stocks wellness journals, sleep masks, and the charming Little Book of Reconnection.

The organic garden and mushroom hut fuel the resort’s ethos, and the Culinary Studio invites hands-on exploration. For families, the Kid’s Den keeps younger guests engaged, while Cinema Paradiso offers open-air movie nights. Playful details – like room service trays with broccoli sprouts and little cue cards on phytonutrients give the property personality that shines as bright as its incredible team of staff, on hand to help you at every turn.

What’s Around

Six Senses Uluwatu is steps from the sacred Uluwatu Temple, a clifftop marvel perfect for meditation and sunset views. Nearby, Padang Padang Beach invites sunrise yoga, while Thomas Beach offers serene seclusion. Honestly, it is hard to leave the property, but if you are feeling adventurous, head to Sundays Beach Club for chilled (no doof doof beats here) style tunes and bean bag vibes.

What’s Super Special

The wellness programmes are a standout, offering tailored experiences like the Jetlag Recovery and Sleep Well Journey, which use biomarker testing to personalise treatments. Yes, we are spoiled by writing about hotels, and of course, we have a lot of massages – the massages here are extraordinary, together the result of annual compulsory training for all staff in new techniques and innovations. Playful touches – like the wooden QR code compendium or the “Kick Asana!” yoga mat holder – add a layer of joy to the mindful luxury.

Children

Six Senses Uluwatu is ideal for couples and solo travellers seeking wellness and serenity, but families are warmly welcomed. The Kid’s Den caters to younger guests, though the resort’s wellness focus and sophisticated dining make it best suited for older children who can appreciate the cultural and culinary artistry. The daily schedule of activity feels respectful to kids who appreciate being busy and learning along the way, but have outgrown a kids club style set up.

Breakfast

Breakfast at Rocka is a vibrant celebration of Bali’s bounty, with an expansive gluten-free selection including tape cassava cake, apple-cinnamon babka, and banana pie. Indonesian favourites like bihun goreng Jawa and nasi goreng share the stage with smoked yellowfin sashimi, smoked duck, and sambal four ways. Unique touches like Arysian kawa cheese and vegan afternoon tea options make for interesting conversations at the table. Served in Rocka’s atmospheric indoor-outdoor setting, the breakfast pairs hyper-local ingredients with robust coffee.

Eating and Drinking

Watu Steakhouse blends chophouse classics with fresh seafood in a stylish open-kitchen setting, while Rocka weaves Nusantara and Southeast Asian flavours into farm-to-table dishes, from booster juices to multi-course dinners. Rocka Edge, open Fridays and Saturdays, offers an omakase experience showcasing Japanese culinary artistry with local ingredients. Cliff Bar, perched above the Indian Ocean, serves Mediterranean-inspired pizzas, excellent, light pastas, and cocktails from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. In-villa dining is speedy, well-presented and available around the clock.

Things to Book

The wellness programmes, or at least a massage, are must-book experiences. The Culinary Studio offers hands-on cooking classes, there’s sound healing, bath salt making – and the options change daily. Arrange airport transfers or explore Pecatu by rented bike through the Guest Experience Maker (GEM) service. Reservations for dining, especially at Rocka Edge, are essential.

Notes

The absence of an in-house temple is offset by proximity to Uluwatu Temple, and the spa’s extensive offerings cover wellness needs. The spa gift shop’s sleep-focused items are thoughtful, the gift shop has a range of locally made garments and bags, all unique and extremely well priced. Buggies are on hand to get you from your room to anywhere you like around the resort, although the steps do pay off.
