The Cali Villas

In the heart of Canggu these eleven design-forward villas feel like both a haven from the frenetic energy of one of Bali’s top destinations and a home away from home. The beauty of The Cali is that you have many of the benefits of larger properties whilst also having the privacy, space and luxury that a villa affords. Think, a private pool and terrace, spacious living areas with fully equipped kitchens, multiple bathrooms, large bedrooms, and in some a secluded first floor terrace. The design savvy will see that inspiration comes from another sun-soaked mecca for those seeking the good life. There’s a Palm Springs vibe throughout the property, from the whitewash walls and pastel tones to a mid-century modern vibe throughout.

What’s There

Spacious enough for couples, families, and friend groups to have their own space and relax within the confines of the villa you’ll find that it’s more than just a place to base yourself. The staff at The Cali are super helpful from hiring out Vespas and  bicycles, to ordering you a driver for excursions further afield.   Reception is open from 9 am to 11pm but 24-hour security is in place.

What’s Around

A case of choose your own adventure factored against how long you’ve got in Canggu. For those active minded travellers this is the perfect spot. Take the opportunity to brush up on your surf skills whether you’re a complete novice or maybe a little out of practice – get a lesson and catch a wave. There’s the sport of the moment, Padel at places like Bali Social Club and for those who crave the time to hone those Pilate and yoga skills there’s a true abundance of places to practice. Maja Pilates, Samadi Yoga Studio, and Wanderlust Fitness Village are all tipped by the team at The Cali.

Children

Children and families are welcome at The Cali and cots can be provided on request.

Breakfast

While there isn’t a restaurant on-site each villa is equipped with a kitchen for those who want to be self-sufficient but local options do abound and not least the plant-based Kynd Community that you’ll find at the top of the laneway (and across a couple of Bali locations.) The menu is very much focused towards a good start to the day – smoothie bowls, berry Bircher jars and more substantial breakfast burritos. It’s not all virtue though, for those who figure a break from the daily grind has to have at least a few Bloody Marys.

Eating and Drinking

The options in room are inventive for a property that doesn’t have its own restaurant and bar. For example, Kynd Community deliver to the door, ordering conveniently through WhatsApp. Their plant-based burger enough to convert even the most ardent sceptic of plant-based burgers. The fridge is stocked with a fantastic selection of locally made drinks from beer to hard seltzer. And of course, Canggu is something of a dining hub these days. Many from WA will know the venues of Will Merrick, his Billy Ho restaurant serving Chinese and Japanese inspired dishes, described as an Asian Boteco. From a growing group of restaurants Masonry offers island steak house vibes and cocktails to match. Casual afternoons might be spent jumping around the beer specials at Black Sands Brewery. Their sours are worth a visit alone. And then there’s the warung question. Everyone has their favourites but as the team at The Cali and they’ll point you to Warung Varuna, Warung Sika, and Warung Bu Mi.

Notes

For those who want to celebrate a special occasion or just create a not to be forgotten welcome, The Cali can help with everything from Champagne and flowers to balloons and rose arrangements on your master bed.
