Jarrahview Lodge
As you arrive at Jarrahview Lodge, perched high in the hills of Jarrahdale, it feels like you’ve landed in a sun-drenched, eucalyptus-fringed version of the Hollywood Hills.
There’s the glittering saltwater pool, edged by native trees and lounge chairs begging for a long afternoon. The views stretch across valleys and city skylines, while cactus-lined paths wind through the grounds like something out of a retro California dream. It’s peaceful, cinematic, and quietly spectacular—a proper escape, just 45 minutes from Perth.
Owners Alana and Benedict have lovingly transformed this hilltop hideaway into a destination that balances comfort, design and a deep connection to nature. Mornings start with birdsong and coffee by the pool. Days can be as slow or as adventurous as you like—think guided hikes through Kitty’s Gorge, horse-riding next door at the Jarrahdale Equestrian Centre, or pickling classes with Guy Jeffreys followed by Millbrook’s famed no-waste lunch.
If you’d rather stay put, everything you need is here. There’s a chef-worthy kitchen, a poolside BBQ setup, three serene bedrooms (all with Smart TVs), and a living room made for movie or AFL weekend marathons. The grounds are full of thoughtful, unexpected touches, from the landscaped ‘original 80’s spiritual circle’ to a roaming family of llamas and the owners’ impressive cactus collection, which turns every stroll into a mini desert safari.

What’s There
The kitchen is prepped for serious cooks—six-burner oven, grill, a baking drawer, slow cooker and more. The bathroom brings a resort-style energy with a freestanding tub, double showers and twin sinks. Outdoors, there’s space to stretch out, a pool to float in, and cactus gardens to wander (just don’t forget your camera, or your shoes). Inside, settle in for movie nights, board games or guilt-free laziness.
What’s Around | Eating and Drinking
You’re a 10-minute drive from Millbrook Winery—an essential lunch destination—and close to Serpentine Falls for scenic hikes and wild swimming. Pick up produce from the Serpentine Jarrahdale Farmers Market on Saturdays or head to the Jarrahdale General Store for top-tier coffee and chalkboard specials. For something more casual, there’s live music and beers at King Road Brewing Co., or casual bites with a Vietnamese bent from Jarrahdale PO Kitchen.
Bistro by the Dam is open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner, with classic, accessible dishes and a mean steak sandwich; kids will happily down fries and let off steam in the cleverly designed nature playground across the carpark.
Finish your day with a quick VB and Chicken Parmi at the Jarrahdale Tavern.
What’s Super Special
The cactus collection alone is worth a slow walk and a moment of appreciation – Alana and Benedict are passionate arid landscapers with plans also to establish a blue agave plantation for Tequila and Mezcal. The sweeping master bedroom views. The spiritual circle. The glimpses of pink quartz in the garden. And the chance to meet a llama or two while you’re at it. Jarrahview isn’t just a place to stay, it’s a place to remember.
Children
Recommended for children aged six and over due to the cactus gardens and steep nature of the landscape.
