Further Hotel
Tucked into Bali’s breezy Pererenan, Further is more than a hotel, it’s a new kind of stay. Suites, cafés, shops and social spots are woven seamlessly into the local rhythm, blurring the line between guest and resident. It’s thoughtful, textural, and deeply embedded in its surroundings. Absorbed into the rhythm of the neighbourhood, with the beach on one side, rice fields on the other, local life hums all around you.

What’s There
Forget everything you thought you knew about hotels as Further isn’t that. This is a stay that defies the usual blueprint. There’s no front desk in a marble lobby, no tower of identical rooms. Rooted in the idea of a diffused hotel, it replaces the traditional single building with a series of interconnected spaces scattered throughout the neighbourhood.
Further has an impressive rooftop pool; we recommend you take a magazine or checkmate a buddy on their stone carved chessboard. You’ll find two destination-worthy dining spaces, a specialty café, and retail outposts like Smile Clothing and Thomas Surfboards. The hotel offers free guest access to Wrong Gym and partners with nearby THERAPY Spa for treatments. It’s all connected by design and buggy.
What’s Around
Pererenan is the kind of place people fall hard for. Canggu’s cooler, calmer sibling, it’s full of contrast: rice fields meet surf breaks, minimalist cafés meet incense-scented shrines. Further sits right in the thick of it. Just across the road is Matchamor, the go-to spot for matcha drinks and 12 different riffs on the ‘cinni’ scroll, the Biscoff is a highlight. Ettore Gelato next door is some of the best you’ll find on the island.
A short walk brings you to yoga studios, boutique gyms, great bakeries, and golden-hour beach breaks.
The area is full of eateries worth booking: Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavours at Shelter, Bokashi for Japanese, Zali for Middle Eastern, Oregan for Mexican and Red Gunpowder for Modern Indian.
Take a 15 – 20-minute walk to Times New Warung and pull up a beanbag, down an espresso and throw a friendly local 20AUD for a surf lesson with personality.
What’s Super Special
Everything at Further feels custom and often is. The bath amenities are created by Oaken Lab, a local fragrance atelier, exclusively for the hotel. The scent is part of the identity; clean, grounded, warm and the packaging is as beautiful as the product inside. Even better? Everything’s plastic-free and available for purchase.
The minibar is another standout. Instead of dusty potato chips and sad soda cans, you’ll find a mix of turmeric tonics, kombucha, chef-prepared snacks and small-batch pre-mixed cocktails by the team at Portion. Every item has a story and a hand behind it.
Further’s walls serve as a rolling gallery, with rotating works from local and international artists. Everything is available for purchase, and many pieces do, in fact, leave with guests. It’s art that lives with you—first here, then at home.
Children
Further is more for grown-ups who appreciate calm, detail, and moody lighting but that doesn’t mean families aren’t welcome. The Family Penthouse is spacious and private, and there’s enough flexibility across the property for families who travel light and love design.
Breakfast
The day starts two ways: up on the rooftop with a lazy poolside breakfast at Portion, or down at street level at St. ALi Café, open from 6am. If you need an espresso stat, simply head downstairs and the team will get you to St. ALi in under two minutes.
St. ALi is a Melbourne transplant that feels perfectly at home in Bali. The menu created by Daniel Dobra is tight, fresh, and full of modern comfort. At Portion, the eggs and pancakes are on-point. The Indonesian breakfast fish woke us up – punchy to boot. You’ll wish you had room for more.
Eating and Drinking
Food and drink aren’t just an amenity here, they’re central to the vibe. Portion serves poolside fare with serious thought behind it: fresh, familiar flavours reworked. It’s where locals drop in, guests linger, and you can easily order a bunch of light dishes throughout the day.
Downstairs, Bar Vera led by chef Benji Cross, is the kind of place that makes you want to dress up a little. Not because you have to, but because the room calls for it. It’s warm, nostalgic, and full of detail—from the lighting to the pacing of service. The food walks the line between comfort and creativity and, like most food at this level in Bali, it’s simply clean the charcoal chicken and the Hokkaido scallop with paprika, polenta, espelette are must-orders.
St. ALi keeps things bright and breezy by day. It’s a hub for coffee lovers, freelancers, early risers and late breakfasters. We loved the Turkish eggs with herb labneh and the “Mexican Cousin” corn fritters.
Things to Book
Further lets you shape your stay with a handful of add-ons that make a big impact. You can book airport transfers, hire a bike, or treat someone (yourself included) to a Romantic Escape complete with wine, fresh flowers and handmade cookies.
Everything is available through their booking engine, with a slick shopping cart experience that makes trip planning feel like building your dream weekend. Their concierge is genuinely excellent. Trust in them.
Notes
While the in-house spa won’t be ready until 2026, Further guests get preferred access to THERAPY Spa, located just steps away. And if wellness is on your list, Wrong Gym is included daily no fuss, no extra fees. Later this year, Further will open its own concept store, stocked with exclusive merch and pieces that actually deserve suitcase space. And if you want local insight, hit this Q&A with Simon Digby, one of the hotel’s go-to creatives, sharing his top picks and secret spots around the neighbourhood.
