Amaroo Retreat & Spa
Amaroo Retreat and Spa is an adults only escape set within fifty two hectares of Perth Hills bushland. Guided by a philosophy of quiet luxury, buildings sit lightly on Country, native planting softens pathways and a sense of calm arrives quickly.
Owners Kirstin Westerman and Mike bring a considered, hands on approach. Guests arrive tense and leave softened, shaped by the land’s steady, grounding presence. The eight chalets sit well apart for privacy, with timber, stone and natural textures creating residential warmth. King beds, robes and generous layouts enhance comfort, while floor to ceiling windows frame the surrounding bush. Private spa decks offer uninterrupted views, often joined by morning kangaroos on the hop.
Dining follows the retreat’s gentle rhythm, from seasonal dishes to private degustation dinners under the stars with candlelight and didgeridoo resonance.
Wellness is central and ritual driven. The Day Spa delivers restorative therapies, the magnesium mineral pool supports muscle recovery and nervous system calm, and Kapurn Skin blends luxury spa practice with advanced longevity science, informed by international practitioner training.
Amaroo’s community connection runs deep, with a commitment to Indigenous employment and support for local artists and regional organisations.

What’s There
Amaroo moves to a rhythm of quiet leisure. The magnesium pool invites unhurried afternoons and gentle restoration. The Day Spa offers massages, facials and considered body treatments, while Kapurn Skin introduces a longevity focused approach to regenerative skincare within a contemporary setting.
Walking tracks weave through the property for wildlife encounters. Each chalet’s private spa bath becomes part of the ritual of staying put, with warm water and bushland views creating a sense of deep pause.
The Lounge functions as the social centre, offering meals throughout the week and hosting weddings, wellness programs and corporate retreats. Amaroo’s fully integrated model means accommodation, dining, spa, wellness and events operate seamlessly in one place.
What’s Around
Mount Helena sits within the wider Perth Hills, a region known for forest reserves and small, creative communities. Scenic trails, lookouts and bushland parks lie nearby. Cafes, small bars and local producers are easily reached, while the Swan Valley wine region is a short drive away.
What’s Super Special
Each chalet is designed as its own retreat, with warm materials, generous proportions and elevated spa decks that prioritise privacy. Hands-on involvement from the owners brings a personal signature that distinguishes Amaroo, supported by an integrated approach to wellness and hospitality.
Children
Amaroo Retreat and Spa is adults only.
Eating and Drinking
Dining at Amaroo is shaped by its Michelin trained head chef, whose experience spans Adam Simmonds’ Michelin starred Danesfield House Hotel and Spa in the UK to three formative years at Alla Wolf Tasker’s Lake House in Daylesford. His style blends European technique with modern Australian flavour, bringing precision, creativity and a strong sense of place to The Lounge.
Breakfast is simple and well considered. Eggs on toast, bircher muesli and sweetcorn fritters sit alongside richer plates like brioche French toast, smashed avocado Benedict and breakfast gnocchi with mushrooms and chorizo.
Snacks and share plates keep the mood casual. Oysters appear natural, with pepperberry mignonette or Kilpatrick. Marinated olives, spiced nuts, burrata, charcuterie and antipasto suit easy grazing.
Lunch, available Wednesday to Sunday, leans toward contemporary bistro staples. Barramundi in moqueca sauce, a rump steak sandwich, Sri Lankan curry and roast tomato gnocchi sit alongside fried potatoes with sage butter and roast carrots with tahini yoghurt.
Dinner is offered as two or three courses or as a Feed Me menu. Drinks include signature cocktails, craft beers and a focused wine list featuring West Australian producers and select imports.
Things to Book
Longer massages, signature facials and personalised Kapurn Skin programs are recommended. Private picnics, in chalet dining, romantic additions and curated event packages can be arranged. The retreat also hosts weddings, wellness events and corporate groups.
Notes
Amaroo offers a calm, polished escape shaped by landscape, design and hands on ownership. Privacy, good food and an integrated approach to wellness create an experience that feels measured, grounded and distinctly Australian.
