Adjacent to a Cottesloe institution, this modern bar-cum-restauant takes inspiration from southeast Asia to great effect.

Within just a few days of opening in late 2025, the team at Tigerfish were already moving like a cohesive entity, all with the same purpose, singing from the same hymn sheet – and in key. Take a position in the front bar, adjacent to The Cottesloe Beach Hotel’s classic Verandah Bar, and you can while away a few hours before and after sunset. Dive into ‘bites’ from exec chef Stephen Ryu who oversees a Southeast Asian direction – see wonton bombs, hand-cut fried yam crisps with black garlic aioli for dipping, and oysters with Vietnamese nahm jim on repeat. In the dining room you’ll get those smaller keep-them-coming dishes alongside larger plates to make a night of it – aromatic fish of the day roasted in banana leaf, or an elevated fried rice prepared chirashi-style with prawn, scallop, mentaiko and omelette. The bar is central and, while the wine list is attuned to this affluent oceanside neighbourhood (you can go from venerable Champagne house to low-intervention local drop), there’s real depth in both the sake offering (order by the cup, flask or bottle) and a Southeast Asian-inspired cocktail list.  Get in quick for the limited-serve Rum Shiso Smash which takes the white iteration of that spirit, adds shiso as both a syrup and a fresh garnish for its bitter, minty character, and a little apple-lime caviar for good measure.
