Watering the locals of Fremantle since the 19th century, this is a pub that does move with the times.
Part of the wider Prendiville family, the Norfolk Hotel is in good hands, being amongst a collection of West Australian stalwarts that includes The Cottesloe Beach Hotel and Hotel Rottnest. For many, this is classic Freo, from its solid limestone build to an eclectic crowd of salty locals and more than the odd blow-in. Other than the prodigious flow of pizza, the kitchen plots a course that’s roughly a mix of Asian flavours and American comfort, from lemongrass chicken salad to Nashville hot chicken, a low-and-slow approach taken on the smoker and barbecue. Beer is solidly West Coast (Gage Roads, Nail, Otherside, Feral and Margaret River Beer Co, plus Swan Draught). Night owls head downstairs to Oddfellows Bar where they sling cocktails until midnight.
