you may remember The Elford in its previous incarnation, The Flying Scotsman. Amidst the art-deco frontages of this end of Beaufort Street, it’s both a landmark and a decades-old gathering point. The venue has been rejuvenated and the locals haven’t forgotten its draw – it’s perfect for a pint and a bowl of hot chips or getting in on the classic daily specials, from Sunday roast through to pizza, steak, parmi and wings. Perhaps under the heading of ‘things you wouldn’t have seen at The Scotto’, is Elford Bottomless: two hours of free-flowing drinks and a share-style menu on Saturdays from 3pm. Including everything from Aperol spritz and prosecco to Moroccan-spiced chicken and kofta, it’s one of the reasons this spot continues to be a firm favourite.
