As much about the vibe as it is the consistently banging menu and drinks list.
You know there have been some memories made at Si Paradiso. This day-to-night Highgate bar and eatery is prettier after dark; the Italianate amphitheatre and furniture coming into its own. No matter the time of day, though, you’re treated to good eats.
There’s tender, smoky veal tongue, sliced paper thin and folded atop a pocket of doughy pizza bread with rich malted onion and zingy mayonnaise; charcoal prawn skewers are cooked to just doneness, the smokiness lightened with kimchi and aioli yet still tasting sweet and of the sea. A Tommy’s margarita is balanced and punchy, and the service is chatty and enthusiastic as chilli oil is dropped at the table in anticipation of the main event: pizza, of course. There’s a glassy crunch to the base, which makes a light, airy slice that’s generously piled with prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella. You’re not here to be wowed by the decor, or marvel at some mere light fitting; you’re here for honest, delicious food and drinks you can get excited about, share with friends, and make more memories.
