Late last year Perth hospo over-achievers – and the trio behind Mary Street Bakery and Tiny’s Bar Michael Forde, Paul Aron and Brett Robinson – dropped a Latin American bombshell in to Northbridge.
With a vibe, a drinks program and dishes which span central and South America, Panama Social launched as a colourful, fun and genuine venue.
Tropical cocktails loaded with lime, pisco and rum feature heavily with a few of the drinks heading back to the 80s and 90s. Illusion shaker anyone? Serious drinkers can stretch their legs and try a tasting flight of rum or tequila. Craft beer connoisseurs will delight in the unique offering as will those who like adventurous new world wines.
Designed to share, the Latino street-food menu has plenty in the way of bar snacks like tostadas and empanadas. Then there’s the larger plates. Think half a char-grilled jerk chicken or a whole fried fish with Jamaican escovitch vegies. Some dishes stay with you like the Caribbean fried bread sandwich of beef tartare onions and crispy anchovies. Trust us when we say it’s one to order.
