Traditional diners may be a little confused by popular Wembley pizza haunt Monsterella. Where’s my waiter? You don’t get one – order at the counter. Knives and forks? Help yourself to the shelf in the corner. It’s the DIY iteration of casual dining delivered with a no-apology, bold approach to service.
There’s no arrogance here and to many, this is what makes it so damn cool. This corner pizzeria is always packed and can often be found with a line out the door and a full-time staff member manning the phone for takeaway orders. BYO is AOK (note you also need to get your own wine glass).
Panzanella salad with tomato, Spanish onion, bocconcini and sour dough croutons was a knock out start to the meal. Pizza time and the “hunter” is an earthy combo of fior di latte, salami, prosciutto, Italian sausage and smoked mozzarella. But choose any of the pizzas. Monsterella is famous for them.
