Lucky Chan’s is rare, quirky, solid and as hipster as a bike rack full of fixies. There is nothing more splendid that sitting at its ground floor bar, sipping an icy beverage and ordering basket after basket of fabulous dumplings.

From the street, it indeed does look like a Chinese laundry, complete with industrial washers and tumble dryers. Push open the door and the witty, grungy dining room presents itself with a warm glow the scents of an Asian roadside snack truck.

No bookings, just walk-in. The menu is the very definition of eclectic. chermoula spring rolls, a salmon poke bowel, karaage chicken and (in an homage to Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction) Chan’s Royale with Cheese dumpling are all fighting for your affections. And tasty? Just make sure you’re sitting down when you take a first bite of pork cheek ramen with optional 62 degree egg.

Dumplings are made daily on-site, as are the delightfully slippery ramen noodles.
