There are lunches, and then there are moments where food, community, and purpose converge.

On Saturday 11 October, Project Womn and Fremantle’s Young George will host one of the latter: a long lunch bringing together some of Perth’s most exciting chefs in support of Project Womn’s charity partner, Your Toolkit — an organisation providing vital resources for women facing family and domestic violence.

At the heart of the afternoon is collaboration. Project Womn co-founders Amanda Yong and Ning Lai join forces with Melissa Palinkas, Blaze Young, and Larissa Goncalves, each lending their craft to a one-off menu that reads like a love letter to WA produce. From woodfired bread and Harvey Cheese to Abrolhos scallops, Endeavour Foods’ wedge island octopus, and The Mushroom Guys’ pioppino mushrooms, the plates celebrate not just the skill of the chefs but the network of producers behind them.

The meal opens with shared snacks — charcuterie and pickles, caponata, snapper rillette crowned with trout roe — before moving into entrées of King salmon and scallop, both bright with citrus and sesame. Mains are equally indulgent: think Linley Valley pork neck with tonkotsu and crackle, ox tongue on creamy mash, octopus paired with kohlrabi and apple, and a mushroom dish anchored in buttery dashi. Sides are pared back but punchy — zucchini with mozzarella, mint and vinaigrette, and delicate heart of palm. To finish, Amanda Yong’s pistachio, chocolate, and rose dessert delivers a final flourish.

Food is only half the story. A live auction will punctuate the afternoon, with funds going directly to Your Toolkit’s programs — practical, immediate resources for women navigating crisis. It’s a reminder that this long lunch is about more than indulgence; it’s about harnessing the power of Perth’s hospitality scene to support women who need it most.

Seats are limited, the cause urgent, and the line-up unrepeatable. An important date for the diary — and a chance to experience how purpose and craft can sit beautifully at the same table. Book here.
