On Saturday 30 August 2025, the State Buildings will once again host one of Australia’s most revered wine events: the International Pinot Noir Tasting.

This year’s tasting brings together an exceptional panel—WAGFG Wine Awards judge and senior wine writer at The Australian Nick Ryan, Giant Steps’ Chief Winemaker Melanie Chester and Overstory CEO Paul McArdle—for a deep dive into the world of Pinot. Expect sharp insights and a shared reverence for this complex variety.

18 wines will be poured across three themed brackets, spanning Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, and the United States.

According to Emma Farrelly, WAGFG Wine Awards Co-Chair and Wine Director at the State Buildings, the event offers “a rare opportunity to taste some of the world’s finest Pinot Noirs side by side, guided by leaders who live and breathe this remarkable variety.”

The tasting is followed by a long-table lunch crafted by the State Buildings culinary team, paired with more Pinot Noir, of course.

“The depth, diversity and storytelling on display will make this a landmark tasting for any serious wine lover,” says State Buildings wine director Emma Farrelly. “We’re united by a love of Pinot, and I expect the conversations to be just as memorable as the wines.”

Seats to this exclusive tasting are limited, so secure your place at the table and immerse yourself in an afternoon devoted to Pinot Noir here.
