Light Years Expands West with a Vibrant Perth Debut
Popular East Coast restaurant Light Years is opening in Perth, bringing its vibrant modern Asian menu to the heritage-listed 140 William Street precinct. Get ready for a feast of bold, playful flavours, with fan favourites from their East Coast locations and a selection of new dishes exclusive to Perth.
Culinary director Robbie Oijvall’s menu will showcase the brand’s iconic dishes—think kingfish ceviche with coconut, chilli, and kaffir lime; crispy masterstock pork belly; and miso corn ribs—plus a lineup of new creations like ginger and shallot lobster dumplings, lemongrass pork shumai, and lobster noodles with laksa bisque. Logan Bendeich’s wine list features local WA producers alongside wines from further afield, each chosen with the menu’s punchy flavours in mind. And the cocktails? Bright, bold, and beautifully crafted.
The space itself is a masterclass in design. Will Rathgeber of Studio Plenty and Sarah Ellison have infused the venue with a sophisticated edge while paying homage to its historic surrounds. From Nino La Verghetta, the man behind Leederville’s Pappagallo, Coccodrillo Pizza & Vino has opened in Cottesloe—and the pizzas are elite. Stick to the classics with the Pizze Rosse or Pizza Bianche ranges, or venture into the Pizze Gourmet menu for something truly unique. Expect pizza sauces made from carrot, beetroot or chickpea puree, with toppings like home-made soy ricotta and black sesame seeds. It might sound unconventional, but they’re the brainchild of head chef Romolo Gargarella—who honed his skills at the renowned School of Italian Culinary Arts, Alma—so it’s worth a try.
