Voyager Estate
In the rarified world of wine Voyager Estate has been a name that says quality and care for decades. In recent years the estate has seen a transformation, as it transitioned to being organically certified across its vineyards and established a farm programme to match that ethos across the estates culinary offering. While this story can be told expertly at cellar door, the experiences that have been crafted by the team here allow visitors a backstage pass from walking the vineyards to getting into the winery.
Need to Knows
The estate offers three levels of experience that vary in price and time commitment. If you’re on a tight schedule, then the one-hour Savour Voyager experience runs 7 days a week between 10am and 3:30pm and is just $65.
For those with a little more time Discover Voyager is around two hours in duration and costs just $130 per person. It runs twice a day between Wednesday and Sunday (10:30am and 2.30pm).
The premium experience, Unearth Voyager also runs for around two hours, three times a day between Wednesday and Sunday (10:30am, 12:30pm and 2.30pm) and costs just $160 per person.
Whatever experience you choose they’re all hosted by guides who are steeped in knowledge of the past, present and future of this storied estate.
What to Expect
Across the three distinct experiences you’ll find a degree of tailoring to each individual guest or group. Before even stepping foot on the estate the Voyager team will capture your preferences to help them curate the tasting experience.
Savour Voyager is hosted in the cellar door’s private Wine Room. The line-up of each tasting is based on your preferences. This is more than a cursory taste with guides discussing the estate’s history but also its current ethos with the recent organic conversion and how that plays into the viticultural and winemaking practices being a likely discussion point. Paired snacks from the award-winning kitchen team elevate this experience and could whet your appetite for lunch or a return.
Venturing out on to the estate with a Discover Voyager experience connects guests with both the art and the craft of winemaking. Walking among the vines in different seasons, guests observe the constant natural cycle that is at play in this maritime region. A look behind the scenes at the winery wouldn’t be complete without a tasting from the barrel, an opportunity to taste work in progress. Back in the Wine Room a tailored tasting is delivered with small bites.
Unearth Voyager is another bespoke experience with a greater degree of immersion. Your expert guide may take you from the original vines to deep into the estate, discussing the elements of terroir that are a central ingredient in the reputation of Voyager Estate, the organic viticultural practices in use, and the outlook of the winemaking team. You may barrel taste wines that aren’t yet in the public domain or have a hands-on blending masterclass (depending on what season you visit in) or take a moment for garden snacks with something appropriate to match. As with other experiences the Wine Room could play a part as your taken through a tasting. For those who want to get to the heart of Margaret River winemaking.
What’s Special
As with the experience you’ll find across the estate – whether it’s in the cellar door or restaurant – knowledge and passion are really what pushes this experience to be truly great. The guides aren’t delivering a patter that’s common to whoever is taking the experience that day. They talk from experience, their passion for wine, the region and the estate coming through. Because the experiences are tailored, they feel personal to the guest but also personal to the guide as well.
Getting there
Voyager Estate is just a 6-minute drive south of Margaret River town centre. It is advised that guests either have a nominated driver or use a taxi service.
Children
While children can be present during the Savour experience aspects of the Discover and Unearth experience – being out on vineyards and in a working winery – is not suitable for children.
Other Things to Book
Serving more than just a seasonal menu, the kitchen team at Voyager Estate have woven the changing environment in the vineyard into their offering. An experience that is rooted in a sense of place for both food and wine, it was named our Regional Restaurant of the Year 2025. During the busier months it pays to book well ahead.
