After a long, hot summer, winter feels like a welcome reprieve in Western Australia—and there’s no better way to lean into the season than with a trip to Cabin Fever in the South West.
Now in its ninth year, Cabin Fever is as cosy as it gets. But we’re not talking soup in your PJs and the heater on full blast. This is comfort, reimagined.
Running from 18—27 July with a program you’ll be hard pressed to choose from, we’re talking fireside feasts, truffle-dusted brunches and elevated fast food. It’s bringing the kind of heat you won’t get by cranking the dial—where comfort means indulgence, not compromise.

Fast Food Fancy
Take Fast Food Fancy, for example, where Normal Van’s Rob Webster will team up with Chef Brendan Pratt from Busselton Pavilion to elevate the fast food you know and love with unexpected techniques and premium ingredients. For those who find comfort in the classics, don’t miss the return of the now-iconic Cheese Toastie Battle at The Cabin at Shelter Brewing—where the humble sandwich becomes a showdown of molten brilliance.

Warmth is best shared with good company, and the Lo-Fi Wine Fair brings just that. Producers like Amato Vino, Si Vintners, Rosa Glen Farm and Dirt Temple will be pouring the good stuff, backed by Dahl Daddy’s soul-warming Burmese flavours. It’s bold, textural and just the right amount of funky.
Comfort is a little different for everyone, and this next event brings together two distinct culinary worlds. East Meets West—Chow’s Table x Eagle Bay Brewing Co sees Mal Chow and Josh De Caen go head-to-head with five canapés each, pairing Chinese/Malay flavours with local craft beer. You’ll also find Mal Chow cooking up Chinese–Malay street food alongside Rob Webster’s Canadian comfort dishes and Brendan Pratt’s nostalgic Aussie favourites at Cape to Plate at Busselton Pavilion.

Truffle hunting might just be the ultimate winter comfort—whether you’re a seasoned forager or a first-timer. Hair of the Truffle Dog invites you to hunt for this rich, decadent ingredient before settling into a long, fire-warmed brunch with matched wines from Skigh Wine.

Not a morning person? The de’sendent x LS Merchants dinner brings together Chef Evan Hayter (WAGFG 2025 New Restaurant of the Year) and one of the region’s most exciting winemakers. Expect a vertical tasting of Joliffe Vineyard Cabernet—plus the just-released 2022 vintage—all matched to a menu that walks the line between primal and precise.
Over at The Dinner Table at Vasse Felix, nostalgic childhood dishes get a grown-up rework, each course paired with wine, of course. If your idea of comfort includes a long, hearty meal enjoyed by the fire, Flint & Folklore: A Barrel Hall Banquet is the perfect fit. Gather in the heart of the barrel room for fire-driven flavours from Fervor that echo the season’s warmth and rustic charm.

For those craving the crackle of a good fire and hearty brews, Blazing Brews brings the bonfire back to Beerfarm for 2025, while the Fireside Winter Feast at Banksia Tavern promises smoke, flame and flavour with WAGFG’s 2025 Young Chef of the Year Laura Koentjoro Harding cooking alongside Liam Monaghan of Gibney—WAGFG’s 2025 Restaurant of the Year.
And to finish it all off, Strange Brew is hosting a literal take on comfort: a Pyjama Party with vinyl DJs, woodfired pizzas and shuttle transport from Margaret River, so you can leave the car (and your grown-up responsibilities) behind.
