Award description

Applications are now open to wineries delivering outstanding tourism experiences.

Delivery of an unforgettable tourism experience leaving a lasting impression on a visitor and inspiring them to return, transcending the typical cellar door tastings, winery accommodation and hospitality.

West Australian wineries providing a bookable tourism experience, or significantly involved in the delivery of one which meets the below criteria, are invited to apply for this exciting new award category.

Applications will be assessed on the following criteria

Please describe the tourism experience being offered, including how often it is run, the price point, capacity of guests and any other details you feel are relevant.
Please tell us what you have implemented in establishing this experience to enable the accommodation of guests with accessibility needs.

Examples include (but are not limited to) catering for a variety of dietary needs, consideration of languages other than English, demonstrating that your business is LGBTQI+ friendly, improved information and access (both in person and online) for those with impairments that may affect vision, hearing or physical movement. ie. You may provide a guide or FAQs for accessibility needs for patrons to assess the suitability of the experience for their individual needs, or provide the opportunity for personalised accessibility needs upon visitation.
Engagement with local communities, residents, and stakeholders, support community development, cultural preservation and enhance economic growth.

Working with trade partners helps expand reach, increase distribution, and build relationships with retailers and other industry professionals. Please outline any current partnerships you have with trade or your community that enriches your experience
ie local community, other tourism businesses, providores, producers in the region, RTOs.

    Meaningful cultural exchange allows visitors to learn and interact with local communities to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for cultural heritage.

    If you have any incorporated First Nations history or knowledge (or are currently working towards this) into your experience, please share those details here.
    Providing educational content around the winemaking process, grape varietals, and wine tasting tips, helps consumers feel more informed and confident in their wine choices, fostering a deeper appreciation for the wine credentials of the region.

    Initiatives aimed at improving processes, products, and experiences assist in enhancing the long-term viability and attractiveness of tourism destinations.

    If you have developed or adopted any unique or innovative processes or product in delivering your experience, please share this information here.
    Marketing campaigns play a crucial role in building brand awareness, driving sales and fostering customer loyalty.

    Please share a link or upload an example of your most recent marketing campaign or relevant social media activity (if available) which showcases your tourism experience. If you wish to also share customer reach or metric results, you may include this also.
    Explain how your business demonstrates sustainable business practices and environmental conservation, which are critical components of ensuring long-term viability for businesses and society as a whole.

    Examples of sustainable business practices include (but are not limited to) environmental and climate action, regenerative tourism practices or inclusion of citizen science, respecting local culture and community, creating positive social impact, upskilling staff and embedding business practices that encourage longevity for your organisation.
    Visitation is a key metric for assessing the success and popularity of a wine destination and can have significant economic, social, and cultural impacts on the region.
