For those closer to the coast, and in lower latitudes, having some cooler weather comes with the condolence of being able to enjoy a well-constructed stout. That said, MRB Stout’s dark-beer embrace is almost undermined by its assured precision – the very welcoming mix of charred liquorice, toasted rye, dark chocolate, roasted malt and oatmeal adding a silkiness – is perhaps too dialled in. Either that, or its fleeting feline sibling (see the Panther Cream at number two) casts a long, delicious shadow.
