Gibney 2025 Winner
The story goes that George Kailis’ direction to Nina Throsby when creating the wine list at Gibney was that the only thing he wanted was, ‘the best Champagne list you can give me. And that she did, listing icons as well as small growers, which for many will be the ones they know and the ones they really should know. Working with Aaron Commins (KHG operations manager), the wider list is joyful and what Throsby calls ‘producer-empowered’ with write ups on each bottle telling the human as well as oenological story. It runs to 72 pages and around 17,000 words, but its impressiveness isn’t in those big numbers, rather in something that is so obviously a labour of love.
