New Normal 2017 Winner
2017 has not been kind to the hospitality sector. While the recession, which profoundly affected the sector in 2015-2016, began to improve in 2017, it was a hard slog for many operators. Many restaurants closed their doors this year as discretionary spending and revenues dried up. At the same time, a group of operators – some of them new to the hospitality game – have, against the odds, brought some delightful, new and immediately successful venues to market.
One such new venue caught our eye this year. It had a rocky start, but quickly recovered to become an instant hit. Bookings are solid and it is a much-talked-about restaurant of considerable gravitas and pleasing cooking. It is a fun and enjoyable restaurant with serious cred in the cooking department and a lively, feel-good vibe. It is a next generation restaurant where produce and woodfired-cooking meet with big flavour and exacting technique.
All that, and it has a roof top bar.
