Bar Rogue 2023 Winner

Bars, restaurants, in betweens. Lines are blurring all over this territory, but two things are for sure: WA’s eaters and drinkers are better off for it; and the food Sofika Boulton is putting out at Bar Rogue is a paragon of the genre. Made to be eaten with a drink in hand, it runs hard at snacks, adding touches that take things two steps further. Take the sandwiches, which see crisp chicken skin reined in by house feta and a dusting of cucumber skins, or cheesy roti with edge from coriander and fennel seeds. Larger plates are just as considered, and the two-bite taco is an instant classic. Rock on.
