King Road Brewing Co, IPA 2023 Winner
A triumph of restraint. This could have been a bigger beer, but there’s consideration here, resulting in a beer that’s greater than the sum of its parts. Judges praised its aromatics, length, balance and gregarious nature. Passionfruit scents lead a fruity arc, with tight bitterness building towards a dry resolution. Although lean, each sip offers vibrancy and agility, with hints of peachy stone fruits overripe strawberry, candied grapefruit peel, pine and sticky dank hints. Not a drop out of place.
